Textmapping

During a unit on voting and elections, fourth and fifth grade students used textmapping to identify known vocabulary words, words they didn't know, interesting information, and important information.

Each group of students had a different chapter of a book on voting, with the charge that they would share with the rest of the class whatever important information they learned from their specific chapter.

In this assignment, students were asked to use a color code -- yellow for words they didn't know, pink for words they already had learned, green underlining for interesting information, and orange boxes for important information.
