The children's letters are beautiful and the war is mentioned often. What a great way to allow children to talk about a very scary subject within the context of story.

Ain't There a War Going On? ~ Avi ~ A book about World War II, told through the voice of a 16 year old looking back on his experiences when he was 9 or 10.

When My Name was Keoko ~ Linda Parks ~ Here the main characters, a brother and sister, experience the occupation of Korea by the Japanese during World War II.
