Mixed-Media Exploration

The school year starts with some exploration with mixed media. Different media stations are set up and students carry their papers to a new station to add another element to their work

Pattern Studies

These begin with making a viewfinder and using it to focus on details in patterns in nature photographs. Students draw patterns they see. I suggest to them that they keep their patterns close together and arrange them in an interesting way.

Patterned Rubbings

Students first cut strips of construction paper and glue a design onto a 4x4 inch square of construction paper. They then do repeated rubbings to create a repeated or random pattern.
